The Executive Office of the President of Indonesia, in collaboration with PT Mercu BioTech Nusantara, launched an innovative pilot project — the Mercu Tap System Technology. This technology is designed to increase rubber latex production up to threefold within a week.
The Chief of the Presidential Staff of Indonesia, Moeldoko, together with the Chairman of Muhammadiyah, visited the pilot project site in Tulang Bawang Barat, Lampung, to observe the direct implementation of the technology.
At the site, Moeldoko and the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Anwar Abbas, witnessed a demonstration of the Mercu Tap System. This technology enables farmers to tap rubber trees under any weather conditions, including during rain, without compromising the quality of the latex produced. With this innovation, rubber latex production increases not only in quantity but also in quality, as the latex obtained is greater in volume and cleaner compared to traditional methods. This technology represents a significant breakthrough for the national rubber industry.

Moeldoko emphasized that the rubber latex produced from plantations using the Mercu Tap System Technology will be sold at competitive prices.
Mercu BioTech has expressed its commitment to purchase the tapped latex at higher prices, ensuring that farmers receive maximum profit. With the implementation of the Mercu Tap System Technology, latex yields can increase up to threefold compared to traditional tapping methods. Within just two weeks, tapping on one hectare of land can produce up to 500 kilograms of rubber latex, a result that was previously difficult to achieve using conventional techniques.
Farmers in Tulang Bawang Barat have warmly welcomed this pilot project. They hope the technology will not only boost production but also improve their livelihoods. With higher income, farmers can reinvest their earnings to maintain and expand their rubber plantations. This pilot project is expected to become a model for adoption in other regions across Indonesia.
