Acting Regent Firsada Directly Inspects Mercu Biotech Group Investment

Tulang Bawang Barat – Harianduta.comMercu Biotech Malaysia, a plantation technology company, has conducted trials implemented in rubber plantations under the guidance of Muhammadiyah Tulang Bawang Barat, yielding positive results.

Remarkably, even trees with damaged or dead bark were still able to produce good-quality latex using the method developed by Mercu BioTech.

The Acting Regent (Pj Bupati) of Tulang Bawang Barat, Drs. M. Firsada, M.Si, personally observed the results of this collaborative trial between Muhammadiyah Tubaba and Mercu Malaysia, which applied a new tapping system called the Micro Typing System, an innovation developed by Mercu Biotech Malaysia, at the Opal Nenemo rubber plantation in Tulang Bawang Barat.

At the same location, the Operational Director of PT Mercu Nusantara, Dato’ Izaham Mohd Kasim, explained that the traditional method of using a tapping knife to extract rubber latex often causes injuries to the rubber trees, resulting in suboptimal yields.

He stated that the company will introduce the MCTS (Mercu Cut Tapping System) technology for rubber tapping, which has already been tested and implemented successfully in Malaysia.

“In one week, farmers only need to perform tapping and harvesting twice, yet they obtain an abundant yield of latex, which can be done at any time, even during the rainy season.”

He stated that the company will introduce the MCTS (Mercu Cut Tapping System) technology for rubber tapping, which has already been tested and implemented in Malaysia.

“The technology we use is a tapping method. With the MCTS system, farmers don’t need to worry about the rain because we use a closed system,” he explained.

It is worth noting that Mercu BioTech has been conducting trials of this new tapping technology at the Opal Nenemo rubber plantation in Tulang Bawang Barat (Tubaba) Regency, using a drilling or puncture-based tapping system. This system is believed not to damage the rubber tree trunk, and instead, can extend the lifespan of the trees compared to the conventional tapping method that uses knives.
